Unveiled by Chery’s premium marque Exeed in September 2020 after a November 2019 concept-car preview, the VX (sold in China as the Lanyue) launched the brand’s push into the lucrative mid-size SUV segment.
Introduction Timeline
Exeed previewed the VX through a concept at Auto Guangzhou on 22 November 2019, generating early interest among online communities. Less than ten months later, on 26 September 2020, the production model debuted at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, entering showrooms immediately afterward.
Global Naming
While exported markets call the vehicle the Exeed VX, domestic Chinese sales use the Chinese name Exeed Lanyue. The dual-branding strategy is common for Chery’s sub-brands and helps distinguish flagship models from regional offerings.
Current Status
Marketed continuously since 2021, the VX remains Exeed’s largest SUV, holding the lineup’s top position above the compact TXL and sub-compact LX.
