Slotting into the burgeoning Chinese premium segment, the Chery Exeed TX launched in 2019 as the first product of the Exeed sub-brand, instantly aiming to challenge established European and Japanese crossovers in the mid-size market.
Background and brand
Exeed is Chery’s answer to customers wanting near-luxury appointments without European price tags. The TX debuted in April 2019, opening dealerships across major Chinese cities and becoming the technological flag-bearer for the marque.
Dimensions and design
At 4,664 mm long, 1,872 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, the TX rides on a wheelbase that maximizes cabin space while remaining urban-friendly. Its restrained surfacing and full-width LED lightbar mark a cleaner styling direction compared with earlier Chery offerings.
Positioning and market
Marketed simply as Exeed TX domestically and under the Exeed brand internationally, the crossover targets the hotly contested Chinese mid-size CUV class where it squares off against the likes of the VW Tiguan L and Honda CR-V.
