Buick Standard Six

The Buick Standard Six was a pre-war intermediate positioned between the junior Buick and the larger, more expensive line, bridging affordability with six-cylinder smoothness in the 1920s.
Positioning
During its production window, the Standard Six sat one step above Buick’s most affordable models while staying below the Master Six and larger straight-eights. It carried Buick’s new overhead-valve six-cylinder engine and a trim level that aimed to balance luxury with price.
Engine & Performance
The engine was a 258 cu in (4.2 L) six-cylinder with overhead valves, giving around 70 bhp—modest by today’s standards but strong enough to compete with Ford and Chevrolet of the era while offering smoother operation.
Model Lifespan
Debuted in 1925 and listed through 1928, the Standard Six was dropped during Buick’s 1929-series reshuffle. It was effectively replaced by the Buick Special, which carried on the same slot in the hierarchy but with a fresh chassis and styling.
