Launched late in 2008, the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 marks the marque’s next step in customer motorsport, evolving the previous V8 Vantage N24 into a more competitive GT4-class contender.
Genesis
The GT4 arrived as a direct replacement for the V8 Vantage N24, which Aston Martin had fielded in series such as the British GT Championship. Recognizing the need for extra performance yet keen to stay within GT4 balance-of-performance regulations, Aston engineers devised a focused update rather than a clean-sheet design.
Powertrain Upgrade
Central to the GT4’s refresh is the move from the N24’s 4.3-litre V8 to the newer 4.7-litre unit lifted straight from the contemporary road-going V8 Vantage. While official outputs weren’t published, the increase in swept volume provided a noticeable torque boost across the rev range, a key advantage in sprint and endurance formats.
Competition Use
Delivered to privateer teams starting late 2008, the Vantage GT4 quickly appeared on grids from Dubai 24 Hours to the Nürburgring 24, often praised for reliability straight out of the box. It formed a staple entry in Aston Martin Racing’s customer-care program well into the next decade.
