Acura RSX

Acura’s RSX badge has appeared twice: on a sporty coupe (2001-2006) and briefly on plans for an electric crossover before those plans were shelved. Understanding both roles clarifies why the nameplate mattered for Honda’s premium division.
First Generation RSX (2001–2006)
Between 2001 and 2006, Acura sold the RSX as a rebadged Japanese-market Honda Integra for North America. Positioned as the brand’s entry-level sports coupe, it inherited the Integra’s front-wheel-drive architecture and four-cylinder engines, bringing sleeker Acura styling cues to the United States and Canada.
Cancelled Electric RSX (2024 announcement, 2026 production scrapped)
More recently, Acura filed plans to revive the RSX name on a battery-electric coupe SUV intended for 2026. The project was quietly cancelled, so the badge remains unassigned beyond its original sport-compact era.
Legacy in the Lineup
After 2006, Acura phased the RSX out without a direct successor, redirecting buyers to the smaller CSX (Canada) and later the ILX. The short-lived electric pivot shows how Honda continues to consider historical nameplates when mapping electrified futures—even when those futures do not reach production.
