History
The Porsche 997 was introduced with the Carrera and Carrera S coupés in early 2004, with all-wheel-drive variants following in November 2005. The Turbo, GT3, and GT2 models were later added to the lineup in 2006 and 2007, expanding the performance capabilities of the range.
Design
The 997 continued the 'glass canopy' Targa roof design from its predecessors, the 993 and 996, before reverting to the classic targa top layout with the 991 generation. The 997 was available in various body styles, including coupés, cabriolets, and Targas, with a length of 4495mm.
Generations
The 997 generation saw a progression from the base Carrera models to the high-performance GT2 and Turbo variants. The introduction of all-wheel-drive models like the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S added to the range's versatility.
