Introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Porsche 991 represents the seventh generation of the Porsche 911 sports car, marking a significant departure from its predecessor with an entirely new platform. As the successor to the 997 and predecessor to the 992, the 991 played a pivotal role in the 911's lineage. Production of the 991 ceased on 20 December 2019.
History
The Porsche 991 was unveiled on 15 September 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, replacing the 997. It was the third entirely new platform for the 911 since its launch in 1963.
Generations
