The Packard 300 was a mid-range car model produced by the Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan, for the 1951 and 1952 model years. Replacing the Packard Super Eight, it offered superior appointments to its siblings, the Packard 200 and 250. The 300 was positioned against other high-end models of its time.
History
The Packard 300 was built for model years 1951 and 1952 by the Packard Motor Car Company. It filled the upper mid-range slot in Packard's lineup, above the Packard 200 and 250, and below the new Packard Patrician 400.
Design and Positioning
The Packard 300 measured 5531mm in length, 1978mm in width, and had a mass of 1760kg. It was designed to compete with other luxury cars such as the Buick Roadmaster, Cadillac Series 61, Chrysler Saratoga, Frazier Manhattan, and Lincoln Cosmopolitan.
Legacy
The Packard 300 was eventually replaced by the Packard Cavalier, marking a continuation of Packard's model evolution in the early 1950s.
