The Maserati Spyder is an open-top roadster in the Italian marque’s modern lineup, built to blend grand-touring comfort with top-down Italian flair.
Open-Top GT Heritage
Introduced in the early 2000s, the Spyder was developed alongside the Maserati Coupé, sharing its chassis and mechanical package while offering a fabric roof that folded beneath a flush tonneau cover. Like earlier Maserati spiders from the 1960s and 1970s, the new Spyder targeted buyers who wanted open-air driving without sacrificing the brand’s trademark refinement.
Design & Body Style
Styled by Pininfarina, the Spyder featured a long bonnet, muscular haunches and a short rear deck that echoed classic GT proportions. The powered soft-top could be lowered in about 30 seconds and stowed beneath a hard tonneau, maintaining clean lines when open.
Current Family Member
Though production ceased after the Granturismo convertible took over, the Spyder remains a recognised sub-series in Maserati’s modern rear-wheel-drive lineup, often grouped with the Coupé and later GranCabrio under the brand’s 21st-century grand-touring umbrella.
