Slotting beneath the Levante, the Maserati Grecale is the brand’s first compact luxury SUV, hitting assembly lines at Cassino in March 2022 and adding an Italian-flavored option to a fiercely contested D-segment.
Design and Platform
Underpinned by the same Giorgio architecture that serves the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Grecale carries the internal code M182. Despite sharing bones with US-oriented models, its proportions—4,846 mm long, 1,948 mm wide, 1,670 mm tall—retain the low, long-hood stance Maserati buyers expect.
Market Position
Built at Stellantis’ Cassino Plant alongside other Giorgio siblings, the Grecale enters a segment dominated by the Porsche Macan and BMW X3. Maserati’s strategy is clear: offer Italian design cachet at a friendlier footprint and price point than the larger Levante.
