It is Hyundai's first performance-focused, N-division compact sedan for markets worldwide.
Design
Rooted in the current-generation Elantra’s bold origami-folded body, the N treatment adds a deeper front splitter, mesh grille intakes for brake cooling, 19-inch forged wheels surrounding red N brake calipers, and a functional rear wing plus diffuser that together generate measurable high-speed stability. Cabin highlights include N-badged sport seats, metal pedals, and a thick leather-wrapped wheel with drive-mode thumb buttons called N Grin Shift.
Engineering
Hyundai borrows the 2.0T Theta Smart-Stream powerplant from the Veloster N, tuned here to 276 hp and 289 lb-ft torque and paired to either a close-ratio 6-speed manual or an 8-speed wet dual-clutch (N DCT). An electronic limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers, and beefier brakes create a chassis balance closer to the hot-hatch competition than to a traditional economy sedan.
Performance
Launch control and N Grin Shift over-boost shave the 0-100 km/h sprint to 5.3 seconds with the dual-clutch, while dual-mode exhaust valves lift from tame to sharp bark at the push of a steering-wheel button. On track, variable exhaust routing and steering-wheel toggles let drivers separately tune engine, suspension, steering and e-LSD for daily commuting or circuit lapping.
