History
Built on General Motors’ new C platform, the V-63 arrived alongside a boom in post-war prosperity. It replaced the Type 51 in 1924, held steady as Cadillac’s prestige offering throughout the late 1920s, and was finally pushed aside by the Series 355 at the start of the 1931 model year.
Design & Engineering
Though technical details are thin, the V-63 continued Cadillac’s established V8 lineage first introduced with the Type 51, now housed within an updated chassis that also served other GM brands. Styling cues echoed period luxury-car fashion: long hood, upright radiator shell, and richly appointed cabins aimed at wealthy buyers then embracing closed steel bodies and electric conveniences.

The V-63 sat atop Cadillac’s range for seven model cycles, bridging the hand-crafted Type 51 and the more mass-produced but still prestigious Series 355.
