Gleagle GC7

Debuting in 2006, the Geely Gleagle GC7 (first sold as Geely Vision) was the Hangzhou automaker’s first independently developed compact sedan and China’s first car fitted with a home-grown CVVT engine.
History
Known initially as the Geely Tiger, then briefly marketed as the Biaowang and Luhu, the four-door was rebranded Gleagle GC7 for domestic showrooms when the Yuanjing (Vision) nameplate was shifted to later models. It retains the distinction of being the first production passenger car to emerge from Geely Automobiles.
Engineering
Geely engineered a 1.8-liter CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) engine entirely in-house; at launch, it was the first such power-plant to be designed and produced in China. Mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, the engine met early steps toward China’s Euro-4 emissions standards.
Design & Dimensions
The GC7 rides on a 2600 mm wheelbase within tidy 4602 mm overall length, 1725 mm width and 1480 mm height. While styling cues are contemporary-Era Geely, conservative proportions and 146 mm ground clearance positioned it squarely as an affordable urban family sedan.
Generations & Legacy
A 2011 facelift introduced sharper headlamps and a refreshed interior, after which the line evolved into the Geely SC7. Despite its brief showroom life, the GC7 set the template for Geely’s domestic compact-sedan business and validated the company’s in-house drivetrain development capability.
