Geely Borui GE

Built between 2018 and 2021, the Geely Borui GE was the hybrid-flavored flagship saloon that ushered Geely’s electric-era design language onto the Chinese mid-size market. Its two-year run delivered mild-hybrid thrift and full plug-in flexibility in one neatly-styled package.
Market Entrance
Unveiled at the Beijing motor show in March 2018, the Borui GE reached showrooms on 28 May that year, instantly slotting above the regular Borui sedan with electrified drivetrains as its main draw. Geely positioned the car as a technology showcase, hoping to capture buyers stepping up from Toyota or Honda hybrids in China’s rapidly expanding new-energy segment.
Powertrain Choices
Buyers could select either a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for small fuel savings in urban traffic or a more potent plug-in hybrid delivering pure-electric commuting plus petrol backup. While exact outputs weren’t headline-grabbing, the technology demonstrated Geely’s reach into dual-platform production on a single model line—and allowed the GE to qualify for Chinese green-car incentives before they tightened further in 2021.
Discontinuation
Production quietly ceased in 2021 as Geely pivoted fresh investment toward the Xingyue L and Geometry lines. Without a direct successor, the brief Borui GE experiment remains a short but telling chapter in Geely’s fast-moving electrification playbook.
