Slotting between the outgoing 33 and the upcoming 147, the three-door Alfa Romeo 145 arrived at the 1994 Turin Motor Show as the sporting face of Alfa’s compact family-car line.
Design
Built on a shortened Fiat Tipo floorpan, the 145 was a 4061 mm long three-door hatch with pronounced wrap-around bumpers and a steeply raked tailgate—styling cues that separated it from the five-door 146 launched a year later.
Performance and engineering
Alfa Romeo equipped the 145 with twin-spark and boxer four-cylinder engines, channeling power through front wheels. At 1712 mm wide and 1425 mm tall, the package gave the car a squat, wide stance that aided its reputation for crisp handling.
Generations and lifecycle
Produced from 1994 to 2000, the 145 completed the 33’s duty cycle in Alfa’s range before the 147 arrived in 2000 to take over. Throughout its six-year run it received minor facelifts and trim revisions but no full redesign.
