Chevrolet Venture

Offered from 1997 through 2005, the Chevrolet Venture took over from the Lumina APV and gave families a front-wheel-drive minivan option built entirely at GM’s Doraville, Georgia plant.
Generations and Production
General Motors produced the Venture for a single, nine-year generation spanning 1997–2005 model years. All North American examples rolled off the Doraville, Georgia assembly line alongside their Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick platform mates, making the facility a dedicated minivan hub before GM closed it in 2008.
Engineering & Dimensions
Riding a 113-inch wheelbase shared with the GM U platform, the Venture measured 4,970 mm long and 1,829 mm wide, slotting between compact and full-size vans. Standard transverse-mounted V6 engines and left-side sliding door were typical of late-1990s minivans, while an optional right-side slider arrived later in the production run.
Successor and Legacy
The Chevrolet Uplander replaced the Venture for 2005, carrying forward its chassis and drivetrain but wearing a taller, crossover-aping body. Since Doraville shut down shortly after Venture production ceased, the model marks the end of Georgia-built Chevrolet minivans.
