Launched in 1923 as Chevrolet’s lone model range, the Superior Series F wrapped early-1920s technology in Fisher-supplied bodies and set the template for streamlined yearly updates that would define General Motors going forward.
History
From 1923 to 1926 the Superior replaced the Series FB and was split into yearly series—1923 Series B, 1924 Series F, 1925 Series K, and 1926 Series V—before giving way to the 1927 Series AA Capitol. During this four-season run it stood alone as Chevrolet’s sole offering, ending the practice of pairing a larger companion model and focusing factory output on one adaptable platform.
Body & Equipment
Available as both open-top roadsters and closed coachwork with retractable glass doors, each Superior carried Fisher Body construction and a generous standard-equipment list that included cast tools, lockable handles, an ignition theft lock, and the first two-piece vertical ventilating windshield on any Chevrolet. Optional extras such as bumpers, passenger-compartment heaters, and dashboard clocks progressively migrated to standard status as buyers discovered extra comfort and convenience.
Mechanical Details
Rolling on 30-inch hickory-spoke wheels—optional pressed steel discs were offered—the Superior featured dashboard instrumentation typical of the era: speedometer, ammeter, oil-pressure gauge, and an electric horn controlled by a choke-pull knob. Incremental yearly tweaks kept pace with modest improvements across General Motors divisions, ensuring each new badge letter carried tangible upgrades rather than mere styling flourishes.
