Compact yet cleverly proportioned, the Changan CS35 is the Chinese automaker’s sub-compact crossover that first landed in 2012 to offer buyers an alternative between supermini hatchbacks and bulkier SUVs. With segment-shaping dimensions that fit tight urban parking spaces, it quickly became one of Changan’s volume sellers.
Design & Dimensions
At 4160 mm long and 1810 mm wide, the CS35 offers a footprint shorter than most European C-segment hatchbacks while stretching to 1670 mm height—providing upright seating and a commanding view without the full bulk of larger crossovers. The short overhangs and chopped rear hatch give it a muscular stance that still fits within Chinese and ASEAN city parking limits.
Generations & Marketplace
Sold since the 2012 model year, the CS35 has undergone gradual facelifts and powertrain tweaks rather than full generational overhauls. Its affordable pricing, elevated ride height and modern infotainment pushed Changan into the global top ten for small SUV sales, particularly in China and expanding markets like Iran, South America and Eastern Europe.
