Unveiled as the debut model from Avatr Technology, the Avatr 11 is a Chinese battery-electric and extended-range luxury crossover born out of a three-way dance between Changan, CATL, and Huawei’s technology suite.
Genesis of a new brand
Avatr started life in 2018 as a Changan-Nio joint venture, but Nio’s retreat during the 2020-22 liquidity crunch handed the baton to battery kingpin CATL. Today Changan owns 40.99 %, CATL 17.1 %, and Huawei supplies core tech while staying off the share register. The 11 is therefore both the brand’s first product and the first ground-up design under the new ownership structure.
Design and dimensions
Positioned in the mid-size luxury category, the 11 adopts a coupe-SUV silhouette 4 880 mm long, 1 970 mm wide, and 1 601 mm tall—longer and wider than a BMW iX3 yet fractionally lower for a sportier stance. Flush glazing and a fast roofline underline the so-called "electric grand tourer" aesthetic.
Powertrain & tech partnership
Battery packs come from CATL, while Huawei provides the 3-in-1 electric drive motors, the MDC computing platform for advanced driver-assistance, and the HarmonyOS-based cockpit. This trio forms the brand’s pitch: EV hardware, battery expertise, and cutting-edge Chinese software under one roof.
