Bentley Continental GTC is the drop-top companion to the Continental GT, delivering the brand’s signature grand-touring luxury beneath an electro-hydraulic fabric roof. Since its introduction alongside the second-generation coupe in 2006, it has served as Bentley’s open-air statement of craftsmanship and effortless performance.
Design & Roof Engineering
The Continental GTC carries the same sharp, haunched lines as the GT coupe but replaces the hardtop with a three-layer acoustic fabric roof that folds in 25 seconds at speeds up to 30 km/h. Engineers reinforced the body with extra bracing to maintain torsional rigidity, while heated glass, neck-level heating vents and a wind deflector preserve cabin comfort when the top is down. 20-way adjustable seats, diamond-quilted hides and knurled metal switchgear mirror the coupe’s cockpit opulence.
Performance Heritage
Early GTC models used twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engines delivering 560 PS and 650 N·m, routed through a six-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive—a combination good for 0-100 km/h in five seconds despite a 2.5-tonne mass. Later updates introduced the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with cylinder deactivation, lighter chassis components and revised steering to improve agility and fuel economy with minimal loss of straight-line thrust.
Generational Timeline
First generation (2006–2011) debuted with the W12. Second generation (2011–2018) gained sharper styling, an eight-speed ZF transmission and the V8 option for the 2012 model year. The third generation (2018-present) moved to the MSB platform, trimmed 80 kg, added 48-V active anti-roll bars and lifted power to 635 PS in the W12 Speed variant while keeping the convertible silhouette fundamentally unchanged.
