The Audi A1 GB is the second iteration of Audi’s B-segment model, stepping forward from the earlier 8X generation with more contemporary packaging and a sharper stance.
Generation Transition
Launched as the direct follow-up to the original 2010–2018 Audi A1 8X, the GB generation omits the three-door format and focuses exclusively on a five-door body. By shifting to the latest modular MQB-A0 platform, Audi trimmed front and rear overhangs, giving the city hatch a cleaner, more wagon-like silhouette while keeping overall exterior growth modest.
Compact Dimensions
At just 4 029 mm long, 1 740 mm wide and 1 409 mm tall, the A1 GB is shorter yet slightly wider and lower than its predecessor, sharpening both visual proportions and urban agility. The compact footprint places it squarely alongside premium sub-compact rivals such as the MINI Hatch and Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatch, but with class-leading interior width thanks to the stretched wheelbase within MQB-A0.
Positioning
Audi markets the A1 GB as its entry point to the brand, aiming younger urban buyers who demand four-ring prestige in a footprint suitable for tight parking bays. Despite the downsized package, the cabin inherits the latest MMI touchscreen, Audi Virtual Cockpit, and configurable ambient lighting, effectively moving “luxury” expectations downward into the B-segment.
