Produced by Volkswagen from 1993 to 1997, the Passat B4 was a heavily facelifted version of its predecessor, the B3 Passat. Despite its new designation, it retained some key elements from the previous model. This large family car was eventually replaced by the B5 Passat in 1996.
Design
The B4 Passat underwent significant exterior changes, with every body panel altered except for the roof and glasshouse. A notable change was the reintroduction of a grille, aligning with the design of other Volkswagen models of the time, such as the Mk3 Golf and Jetta. The interior received mild updates, including the addition of dual front airbags and seat belt pretensioners.
History
The Volkswagen Passat B4 was produced from 1993 to 1997. It was not an all-new model but a facelift of the B3 Passat. The B4 sedan was eventually replaced by the B5 Passat in 1996.
