Produced from 2006 to 2009, the Pontiac Torrent is a mid-size crossover SUV that succeeded the Pontiac Aztek, offering a mildly restyled version of the Chevrolet Equinox with distinct visual and handling differences.

Design and Engineering

The Torrent shared its basic body structure and mechanicals with the first-generation Chevrolet Equinox. It had a different front and rear end, and its suspension was modified to be firmer and sportier. The electronic power steering was also recalibrated for a firmer feel.

Relation to Other Models

The Pontiac Torrent was a replacement for the Aztek and was later succeeded by the GMC Terrain. It was part of General Motors' lineup, closely related to the Chevrolet Equinox.
