History
The Pontiac Safari was first introduced in 1955 as a two-door station wagon counterpart to the Chevrolet Nomad. By 1957, Pontiac expanded the Safari nameplate to its entire full-size wagon range. It was a successor to the Pontiac Parisienne wagon line.
Design
During the mid-1960s, the Safari adopted simulated woodgrain trim on its exterior, a feature that became closely associated with the model. The Safari's dimensions included a length of 5464mm, width of 2014mm, and height of 1458mm, with a mass of 1861kg.
Legacy
The Pontiac Safari was produced for 34 years, marking its presence in the full-size station wagon market. It was eventually phased out by 1989, leaving behind its legacy as a distinctively trimmed full-size wagon.
