Launched in August 2003, the Citroën C2 is a supermini-class car produced by Citroën until October 2009. As a three-door hatchback, it shared its dashboard with the Citroën C3 but had a distinct design aimed at a younger demographic. It replaced the Citroën Saxo.
Design and Production
The Citroën C2 was designed by Donato Coco with a focus on projecting a 'young driver' image through its two-door design and flatter styling. It was produced at the Aulnay factory on the outskirts of Paris, alongside the Citroën C3, which was designed as a larger, family-friendly vehicle.
Generations and Variants
The Citroën C2 was produced from August 2003 to October 2009. It was part of a strategy by Citroën to cover different submarkets within the supermini class, alongside the Citroën C3. The C2 was eventually replaced by the Citroën DS3 in January 2010.
History
The Citroën C2 was introduced as a replacement for the ageing Citroën Saxo. Its development and design were focused on appealing to a younger audience with its unique styling, differing from the more family-oriented Citroën C3.
