Jeep Wrangler

Born as the direct descendant of the wartime Jeep CJ, the Jeep Wrangler has been the benchmark for open-top 4×4 adventure since its 1986 launch, continuously modernizing yet remaining instantly recognizable. Four generations later, it still sets the standard for factory-built off-road capability.
Generations
The Wrangler story began in 1986 with the YJ, distinguished by its square headlights, followed by the 1997–2006 TJ that returned to round lamps and introduced the first coil-sprung suspension. The wider and more refined JK arrived for 2007–2018, adding four-door Unlimited models. The current JL, unveiled in late 2017 and built at Jeep’s Toledo Complex, brings lighter aluminum bodywork, advanced electronics and an available 2.0-liter turbo while retaining solid axles and a folding windshield.
Design & Engineering Hallmarks
Across four decades, fixed cues define the Wrangler: exposed door hinges, a removable top and doors, a fold-flat windshield, and body-on-frame construction with Dana live axles. Each generation has balanced modernization—new powertrains, safety tech and upscale interiors—against an unshakeable design DNA that traces straight back to the 1940s CJ universal.
