Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK)

Third out of five Grand Cherokee generations, the WK arrived for 2005 as a clean-sheet redesign of Jeep’s premium mid-size SUV. Launched first at the 2004 New York show and soon after at Euro Camp Jeep in Ardèche, France, it aimed to push the model further upmarket while keeping off-road credibility intact.
Launch & Short Life Cycle
From its March 2004 unveiling to its final 2010 model year, the WK formed the brief third chapter in a line that had begun with the ZJ in 1992 and would continue with the WK2. Despite spanning only six sales years, it introduced significant structural, power-train and safety upgrades over the preceding WJ generation.
Design & Market Shift
Jeep designers widened the body, sharpened the grille and moved the spare under the floor to boost cargo space, giving the WK a more muscular, urban stance. Inside, high-grade materials and available navigation signaled the company’s push to court luxury buyers who had begun flocking to new crossovers from European marques.
