Cadillac Series 75

First appearing in Cadillac’s 1936 catalogue as a lengthened companion to the Series 70, the Series 75 was produced almost uninterrupted for four decades. It survived the Great Depression, World War II rationalization, and the jet-age styling boom, forming a stable anchor in the lineup that buyers and commercial operators alike relied on for authoritative presence.

Built on an extended platform that freed up generous rear passenger legroom, the Series 75 was offered as formal sedans, limousines, and Commercial Chassis variants for bespoke coachwork. Distinctive long hoods, upright grilles, and sweeping rear overhangs signaled prestige while allowing easy entry and exit in chauffeur service.

Generational updates tracked those of the main Cadillac model years—from Art-Deco 1940s styling through tail-fin 1950s and restrained 1970s lines—yet the proportions remained unmistakable. Some years featured glass-divided landaulet bodies, ambulance conversions, or parade cars, ensuring the Series 75 name became shorthand for Cadillac at its grandest scale.

When production wound down in the late 1970s, the Series 75’s long-wheelbase engineering philosophies had already migrated into the commercial DeVille limousines that followed. Today, surviving examples are sought by vintage-wedding operators and preservationists who value its peerless combination of 1930s–1970s American automotive breadth.
