Built between 1931 and 1934, the Fiat 524 was Fiat’s move up-market, offering more space and comfort than the contemporary 522 while setting the stage for the later 2800. Only about 10 000 were made, making clean survivors a rare sight today.
The Four-Year Model Run
Fiat introduced the 524 in 1931 as a step above the more modest 522; it filled the gap until the flagship 2800 arrived in 1934. During those three short seasons just 10 135 units left the Turin plant, ensuring a low survival rate.
Design & Dimensions
At 4.68 m long, 1.73 m wide and 1.74 m tall, the 524 offered generous head- and legroom for the era. Tall sides and upright styling echoed contemporary European luxury cars, while the long bonnet hinted at the power needed to reach its 95 km/h top speed.
