Fiat 124 Coupé

Introduced at the 1966 Turin Auto Show and produced until 1975, the Fiat 124 Sport Coupé delivered elegant Italian styling on the mechanical base of the 124 saloon to create an affordable four-seat notchback coupé. It bridged the gap between the utilitarian Fiat 1300/1500 and the later, more angular Fiat 131.
History
Fiat unveiled the 124 Sport Coupé in three consecutive generations spanning 1967–1975, each incorporating subtle facelift cues and mechanical updates while retaining the original silhouette. Positioned as a step up from the predecessor Fiat 1300/1500 family, the coupé expanded Fiat’s reach into the sporty, yet practical, segment before making way for the Fiat 131 series.
Design
Styled as a notchback coupé with a crisp roofline flowing into an upright rear, the two-door body offered seating for four despite compact exterior dimensions. The restrained chrome trim and balanced proportions reflected late-1960s Turin design flair without resorting to excess, giving the 124 Coupé understated presence on both home-market and export roads.
Generations
Production split cleanly into three series, each introduced roughly two to three years apart. While the overall architecture and seating layout remained constant, Fiat gently tweaked bumpers, lighting, and interior details to keep the model visually fresh throughout its eight-year lifespan.
