From 2005 to 2010, Pininfarina built the Alfa Romeo Brera, a sleek 2+2 coupé that replaced the long-serving GTV while sharing its underpinnings and production lines with the open-top Alfa Romeo Spider.
Design & Styling
Styled in house by Pininfarina, the Brera presented a low, muscular fastback silhouette 4410 mm long and just 1370 mm tall, placing visual emphasis over its notably wide 1830 mm stance. Distinctive traits include the shield grille, hidden rear door handles and a glass hatch that wrapped into the pronounced rear haunches.
Performance & Variants
All Breras rode the GM/Fiat Premium platform, with powertrains ranging from four-cylinders to the 3.2-litre V6 that enabled a factory-quoted top speed of 240 km/h. Buyers could choose front-wheel drive or Q4 all-wheel-drive, the latter available with a six-speed Selespeed automated manual for the V6 models.
Production Run & Legacy
Manufactured entirely at Pininfarina’s San Giorgio Canavese plant, the Brera ceased production in 2010—marking both the end of Pininfarina’s in-house assembly era and the last sports coupé to wear an Alfa badge before the marque’s shift to the 4C and later Giulia Quadrifoglio categories.
