History
Delage, dormant since 1953, was revived specifically to build the D12. Announced in 2019 and first delivered to customers in 2022, the project was led by French entrepreneur Laurent Tapie, aiming to meld 1930s Grand Prix DNA with 21st-century technology.
Design
The D12 adopts an open-cockpit canopy layout reminiscent of pre-war Formula racers, complete with aircraft-style yoke steering and tandem seating. A dramatic nose cone, integrated dorsal fin and exposed push-rod suspension underline its single-seater inspiration while meeting full street-legal homologation.
Performance
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 7.6-litre V12 paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 1,100 hp. The drivetrain is mated to an eight-speed automated manual transaxle, allowing 0-100 km/h in a claimed 2.4 seconds and a top speed above 380 km/h.
Legacy
Only thirty D12 examples are slated for production, positioning the car as an ultra-rare flagship rather than a volume model. Its arrival effectively closed the longest production hiatus in French automotive history and re-established Delage as an extreme-performance marque.
