Volkswagen released the Taos, a compact crossover SUV, in October 2020 for the North American, South American, and Russian markets. Initially introduced in China in 2018 as the Volkswagen Tharu, the Taos is a restyled version of the Tharu. The Taos fits below the Tiguan in Volkswagen's lineup.
History
The Volkswagen Taos was first released in China as the Volkswagen Tharu in October 2018. Two years later, it was re-released as the Taos for other markets, including North and South America, and Russia.
Design and Positioning
The Taos is a compact CUV with dimensions: 4453mm in length, 1841mm in width, and 1632mm in height. In Volkswagen's lineup, it is positioned below the Tiguan and above the T-Cross in certain markets.

The Volkswagen Taos is marketed in North America, South America, and Russia. It was initially introduced in China as the Tharu but is not available in the core European market.
