History
The Toyota LiteAce was launched in 1970 as a light-duty truck, with commercial and van/wagon body variants added in 1971. The larger TownAce van/wagon, derived from the LiteAce, was released in 1976, followed by a TownAce truck in 1978.
Design Evolution
Originally, the LiteAce and TownAce utilized a cab-over-engine configuration. However, since 1996, they have featured a semi-cab-over arrangement instead. This change marked a significant evolution in their design.
Variants
Between 1982 and 1992, the LiteAce and TownAce series accommodated the MasterAce Surf, an upscale TownAce passenger wagon. This diversification showcases the versatility of the LiteAce platform.
