Launched in late 2012 for the 2013 model year, the Opel Mokka is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by German automaker Opel. The Mokka has been sold under various names across different markets, including as the Vauxhall Mokka in the UK.
History
The first generation Opel Mokka was developed by GM Korea as the Buick Encore, sharing its platform with the Chevrolet Trax sold in North America, Australia, and South America. The Mokka received a facelift and was briefly marketed as the Mokka X before the introduction of the second generation, which reverted to the Mokka name.
Design and Variants
The Opel Mokka is also sold under the Vauxhall brand in the United Kingdom. Although it shares its origins with the Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore, the lines diverged after Opel became part of Stellantis, indicating a shift in its development path post-GM.
Generations
The Opel Mokka has seen multiple generations since its introduction, with the first generation starting in 2012 and a second generation following later. The facelifted version of the first generation was marketed as the Mokka X.
