History
The Oldsmobile Starfire nameplate first appeared on a convertible concept car in 1953. The following year, it was introduced as a production model, specifically as a Ninety-Eight series convertible, alongside other 'halo' models like the Buick Skylark and Cadillac Eldorado. In 1957, the 'Starfire' label was temporarily applied to all Ninety-Eight series models.
Generations
The Starfire name was used across three separate generations, starting in 1954. The initial run was from 1954 to 1956, followed by a brief expansion to the entire Ninety-Eight line in 1957. Later generations were produced in non-contiguous years.
