Introduced in 1987, the Mazda Étude was a three-door hatchback coupé based on the fifth-generation Familia, sold exclusively in Japan until 1989. The Étude name was later reused in South Africa for the subsequent Familia generation. This model represents a unique variant in Mazda's lineup during the late 1980s.
