The WEY VV5 is a compact crossover SUV produced by Great Wall Motor under its premium WEY sub-brand. Positioned above mainstream Great Wall models, it targets younger buyers seeking near-luxury styling and features without the European price tag.
Design & Dimensions
At 4 462 mm long, the VV5 is slightly shorter than a Honda CR-V yet still projects a muscular stance through sharp LED lighting, prominent wheel arches, and a coupe-like roofline ending in a sculpted tail-gate. The 1 638 mm height and 1 857 mm width give it the proportions of a tall hatchback rather than a traditional boxy SUV.
Under the Skin
With a kerb weight of 1 709 kg, the VV5 carries about 200 kg more than entry-level compact crossovers, hinting at sound deadening and feature content typical of Great Wall’s upscale WEY range. Although engine choices aren’t listed here, Great Wall offers turbocharged petrol units—commonly 1.5 or 2.0 litres—paired to a dual-clutch transmission and front- or all-wheel drive.
Positioning
Slotting below the larger VV6 and VV7, the VV5 sits as WEY’s gateway model aimed at first-time premium buyers in China and limited export markets. Its role is to introduce the brand’s technology suite—adaptive cruise control, 360° camera system, and connected infotainment—before customers move up the ladder.
