Built from 1993 to 2000 and unveiled at the 1993 Bologna Motor Show, the Fiat Coupé injected eye-catching style into Fiat’s early-1990s range and became the marque’s last stand-alone two-door sports car until the modern 124 Spider. Its blend of American designer flair and Italian coach-builder craftsmanship still sparks cult interest today.
Design
Chris Bangle, then at Centro Stile Fiat, penned the exterior: a crisp wedge profile with a high tail, framing four seats inside a cabin shaped by Pininfarina. The result married Fiat’s mass-market engineering with concept-car drama yet kept compact dimensions—4,250 mm long, 1,766 mm wide and only 1,340 mm high.
Generations & lifespan
The model remained in production for a single, seven-year cycle with steady updates. Slotting above the outgoing Fiat 128, the Coupé never gained a direct successor, leaving its fan base reliant on the used market once the final examples left the Mirafiori line in 2000.
